    Standard UV Transilluminator

Available in 21 x 21 cm and 26 x 21 cm viewing sizes, supplied either as a standalone unit or with the MicroDOC as part of a fully integrated gel documentation system. The large surface area makes it an ideal workstation for viewing and working with fluorescently stained protein and nucleic acid gels.

Standard features include a high/low intensity safety switch and an efficient starter that allows each of the six 8-Watt UV tubes to energise quickly without flickering, while special filter glass minimises unwanted background light — maximising contrast and sensitivity so even the faintest fluorescent gels can be viewed.

Wavelength guidance: 312 nm is recommended for standard gel documentation. 254 nm causes more DNA damage and suits other applications such as crosslinking; 254 nm bulbs may also be visible through the filter, making them unsuitable for gel documentation.
