The front panel and graphical display are designed for ease of use. The display provides all useful information during runs and shows on-screen help to guide the user in setting up the power supply. In Simple Mode you only have to set the power supply to the desired parameters and press run.
The series has firmware upgrade capability so future improvements and features are always available, and continuous logging combined with a real time clock makes it possible to review previous runs, including any down-time caused by mains power failures. The complete EV series holds its voltage constant at low currents without problem and keeps functioning at low and high temperatures.
Running modes — Simple Mode: set voltage, current, power and time for a routine run. 9×9 Method Programming Mode: up to 9 different programs, each with 9 steps, stored in non-volatile memory; each step can recall a next one, giving a flexible multi-step function for special techniques, and parameters of the running step can be changed temporarily without interrupting the run. Voltage Ramp Mode: a linear voltage gradient for any step, provided the limiting current or power is not attained. Timer Mode: timer or volt-hour controlled operation stops the run automatically and sounds an alarm. Each model has constant voltage, constant current and constant power capability with automatic cross-over, and shows which parameter is being held constant. Automatic recovery after power failure, password protection and data logging are standard.
Safety features — ground leakage detection protects from potential shock hazard when a leakage path is detected; overload protection gives full protection against any overload condition including accidental short circuit of the output; smooth voltage rise prevents high voltage from appearing suddenly at the outputs, increasing smoothly up to the pre-set limits; no-load detection prevents errors such as a bad or dangling connection; and the optically isolated USB connection prevents any high voltage on the communication lines.
