Overview
The Class II safety cabinet provides protection for the operator, the product and the environment. Type A cabinets have an open front with inward airflow for personnel protection and HEPA-filtered downflow air from a common plenum, of which 30% of the air is exhausted back into the laboratory and 70% is supplied to the work area.
Type A cabinets are suitable for work with agents assigned to biosafety levels 1, 2 or 3 in the absence of volatile toxic chemicals and volatile radionuclides.
